Site Description:
This park is best visited at dawn to maximize your chances of finding the marsh endemics. They should be searched for in the reedbeds that surround the park’s central lagoon. The open water harbors large numbers of Common Gallinule and American Coot, while Blue-winged Teals are common between October and March. Small numbers of Spot-flanked Gallinules call the lake home, while you may spot a Masked Duck if you are lucky.
The reedbeds are home to Bogotá Rail, Least Bittern, Noble Snipe, Subtropical Doradito, Yellow-hooded Blackbirds and Apolinar’s Wren.
The surrounding trees and parkland may contain Silvery-throated Spinetail, Rufous-browed Conebill and Andean Siskin.
