Site Description:
While the lagoon may hold White-throated Crakes and other waterbirds, the main birding attraction here is the forest. The Turquoise Dacnis may be found in mixed flocks containing numerous tanagers including Black-capped, Speckled, Flame-faced, Metallic-green and Scrub Tanagers.
Other regular flock members include Moustached Puffbird, Ash-browed Spinetail, Sooty-headed Tyrannulet, Lineated Foliage-Gleaner, Black-billed Peppershrike, Rufous-naped Greenlet and Moustached Brush-Frinch. The other sought-after species here, the Black Inca, is best searched for in the mature oak forest. Cerulean Warblers join the mixed flocks during the northern winter.
Whiskered Wren is found in tangles, while open areas may hold Dull-colored Grassquit and Slate-colored Seedeaters. Gorgeted Woodstar has also been reported in the area.
