This hummingbird feeding station is only going to get more famous! Close to the birding site of La Vega and convenient for birders day-tripping from Bogota, several rare species of hummingbirds are virtually guaranteed here. Access:
Around 1.5 hrs from Bogota, on the highway towards La Vega. The Garden is located near San Francisco de Sales; the turnoff is before reaching La Vega.
Site Description:
An excellent set of hummingbird feeders on a private farm. Indigo-capped Hummingbird, Gorgeted and White-bellied Woodstar, Lazuline Sabrewing, Brown Violet-ear, Green Hermit, Steely-vented Hummingbird and more all visit the feeders. They also offer lunch -- in conjunction with La Vega this is a great stop for birders driving down into the Magdalena Valley. It can also be easily day-tripped from Bogota.
