Map of Colombian Birding Regions
Colombia hosts 1,870 bird species, one fifth of the planet’s bird diversity and more than any other country. Colombia is extraordinary for birds because of its strategic location –at the gateway to Central and South America and a remarkable topography with three mountain ranges that straddle the equator and harbour an unrivalled complex of ecosystems across just 700,000 sq miles. Until recently Colombia had been a largely forgotten part of the Americas for birders and ecotourism, but due to the improved situation ecotourism is rapidly increasing. Colombia is a must for any serious birder and we hope this website will assist anyone considering visiting this spectacular country. |
