<content>Colombia, with 1870 bird species, is the country with the greatest diversity of birds worldwide. The diversity of species is due to the Colombian geographical location and topography, which creates an optimal environment for various ecosystems. In addition, Colombia is a required stop for birds that are migrating south searching for warmer weathers.

		Promoting bird watching in Colombia:

In order to promote Colombia as a touristic destination, Proexport is betting on bird watching as a new touristic product to attract visitors. With this in mind, and thanks to Proexport with the support of the Ministery of Commerce Industry and Tourism, Avianca and Natural National Parks, Colombia hosted 5 workshops about birds across Colombia in July 2008.
